Black History Month

The following i wrote into my old blog a day after the sexuality post (12/2/08)

Black History Month. Kinda a double standard how White History Month would be considered racist, but sadly, its understandable. However why is there no Mexican or Latino History Month, a Native American History Month, and why is there no Asian History Month?
People work very hard to accept blacks, and thats great. Dont get me wrong, but how hard do they work to accept other races and cultures? Defenantly not as hard. Why? Well I think people look back on slavery and the period after emancipation with the black codes and all, and they think to themselves; wow, whites were so raciest to blacks back then. But they dont think of the late 1800's when asians were strongly protested, much like blacks, and 1940's (WWII) when many Cali Japanese were sent to camps, and the Mexican Immigration Act, and the countless other times that other races have been treated in racist matters. Why? Because our history classes and our Nation don't emphasize these time periods like they do the time of slavery and Cival Right Movement. When you ask pretty much anyone what it means to be racist they will say; racism is discriminating against a group of people for their believes or race. And they're right..but sub-consciencely it sometimes seems that people define racism as discriminating against blacks for their colour. (This is all just my opinion though.)
But i guess, we, America work so hard to accept blacks and prove we are not racist (which i think America as a country..kinds is. KINDA.) but we work so hard 2 prove we aren't that we forget that that does not just entail setting up groups like "Brown Pride" and "Asian Club" and "Step Dancing Club" in schools..it more than just groups for these "minorities", its about accepting them, and not even noticing race..racism is more than just skin deep.
I think it would be so great if Obama became prez. Partially I agree with his political standpoint..but also? i think it would look so good for America. Alot of countries really watch us and having a prez of colour would really paint the image and tell the world that we really have changed.. and that we really are living the american dream. But I guess, i feel like it PARTLY would be a false image. But anyways I guess having a prez of colour is just saying something about Ameican citizens..we're more accepting now.

But I guess, alot of what I write about is rather controversial subjects so sorry sorry srry if I offend anyone..I jus want my voice herd, like most everyone else.

And idt this blog entry is quite as good as my last one on homosexuality..but atleast this one has some good thoughts (?)
